Plastic Surgery Statistics [Part 2]: Minimally Invasive Procedures Increase Too

July 29th, 2015

In 2014, the number of cosmetic procedures in the United States, including both minimally invasive and surgical, topped 15 million, according to statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).

Minimally invasive cosmetic procedures increased by 4 percent, with more than 13.9 million procedures in the country last year.

The top five minimally invasive procedures were:

* Botox (6.7 million procedures, up 6 percent)
* Soft tissue fillers (2.3 million procedures, up 3 percent)
* Chemical peel (1.2 million procedures, up 7 percent)
* Laser hair removal (1.1 million procedures, up 3 percent)
* Microdermabrasion (881,905 procedures, down 9 percent)

“Subtlety has been the keyword I’ve heard from patients over the past year,” said ASPS President Dr. Scot Glasberg. “Minimally invasive procedures typically produce subtle aesthetic results, and for many people, that is all they want or need at the time.”

Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Clifford King offers a variety of non-surgical treatments in Madison, Wisconsin, including Botox, microdermabrasion, Restylane, chemical peels and Obagi professional skin care products.
